1. School of Public Health and Nursing

The School of Public Health and Nursing, Hangzhou Normal University consists of two academic departments: the Department of Preventive Medicine and the Department of Nursing. The school currently has a faculty of 91 members, among whom 63 are full-time professional teachers. Over half of the teaching staff hold senior professional titles, more than 90% possess doctoral degrees, and over 80% have overseas academic experience. It enrolls more than 2,000 students in total, comprising nearly 300 postgraduate students, approximately 1,700 undergraduate students, and 60 international students.

2. Department of Nursing

The Department of Nursing boasts a profound historical heritage, with its origin dating back to Zhejiang Guangji Nursing School established in 1917. The department launched its higher nursing education program in 1998. It was accredited as a municipal distinctive major in 2009, approved as the Zhejiang Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center in 2010, and successively designated as a provincial distinctive major, a provincial first-class undergraduate major, and a national first-class undergraduate major construction site in 2016, 2019 and 2020 respectively. Boasting 34 professional faculty members, the department obtained the qualification to confer the academic Master’s degree in Nursing in 2005, took the lead in the province to cultivate international nursing students in 2016, and was approved to offer the professional Master of Nursing program in 2018. Its nursing discipline was ratified as a provincial key discipline in 2012 and a provincial first-class discipline in 2016.

The Department of Nursing has undertaken the WHO China Nursing Education Reform Project and the UNDP Nursing Faculty Training Program, yielding nationwide influence on nursing education innovation. It features a highly internationalized faculty team, with nearly 80% of teachers having overseas study or visiting scholar experience in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, South Korea, Finland and New Zealand. Beyond its full-time workforce, the department recruits high-caliber part-time instructors with solid clinical experience from leading hospitals in Zhejiang Province, and also appoints foreign teachers to deliver undergraduate courses. Dedicated to building an internationally compatible nursing talent training system and promoting globalized nursing education reform, the department focuses on cultivating students’ global vision and cross-cultural communication capabilities, and has established stable long-term academic exchange ties with the UK, the US, Australia, Belgium, New Zealand and Hong Kong of China.

It has nurtured more than 26,000 nursing professionals for medical institutions at home and abroad, including recipients of the International Florence Nightingale Medal and nurses dedicated to the health care of national leaders, with a consistent graduate employment rate of 100% in recent years. The college has established a sound integrated talent training system at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Its graduates are widely acclaimed by employers. In recent years, the college has secured continuous breakthroughs in national research projects and high-level academic publications, further elevating its nationwide influence in talent cultivation and academic research in the fields of public health and nursing.

3. International Nursing Program

With a decade of international nursing education development since 2016, the Nursing Department fosters students with global vision and holistic health concepts.

For Undergraduate Students, they will master basic medical theories, systematic nursing expertise and humanistic literacy, and build comprehensive capabilities in clinical practice, teaching, management and research. They are cultivated with awareness of quality improvement and patient safety, lifelong learning ability and sound professionalism, qualified to provide evidence-based holistic care and engage in nursing services in various healthcare institutions.

For postgraduate students, the program cultivates high-level nursing professionals with global vision and forward-minded insight. Emphasizing research competency, the program prepares graduates with comprehensive literacy and great potential for scientific research, academic teaching, professional management, technological innovation and social services. It also nurtures their scientific and humanistic attainment, self-directed reflective research skills for lifelong learning, rigorous academic integrity and standardized research methodology. Students will further gain proficiency in reading international professional literature and effective Chinese communication.

5. Hangzhou Normal University Scholarship

Scholarship Criteria

Type A (Master): for international postgraduate students, including tuition fee waiver and living allowance. Living allowance for master student: 1500yuan/month (10 months a year totally)

Type B(bachelor):20000yuan/year;

Type C(bachelor):10000yuan/year.

Qualifications for Application

1. Applicants must be foreign citizens with valid foreign passports;

2. Applicants for bachelor are from 18 to 30 (inclusive) years old; applicants for master is no more than 40 years old;

3. Applicants must be in good physical and psychological condition and shall abide by the provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Entry and Exit;

4. Applicants shall abide by Chinese laws, regulations, school discipline and school regulations, respect Chinese social morality and customs;

5. Applicants are required to have high school degree or bachelor and master degree or above.
